New Zealand adventures of Cathy Klunk Armstrong

Got this e-mail from Cathy detailing what she's been up to lately. Enjoy!

As for stories in New Zealand there are a million. I am writing up my journal but have not had a lot of time to get around to. One of the best experiences was flying a helicopter up the river where there are no roads. They dropped us off 2 by 2 as we waited for the whole group. Of course they give you instructions before you go out and tie your boat on and foremost is to stay low and keep your paddle horizontal with the ground.

Of course there is always one character in the group and ours was 'Beth'. As the helicopter landed she walked right out to it with her paddle sticking straight up. Our guide, Ben had to dive for her legs and knock her down to keep her from getting the sense knocked out of her. Anyway the only way down was to kayak. It was stunningly beautiful.

As we flew up the river we could see all the rapids below up. It was an incredible experience. Here's the pics from that day.

There's something about Mary...

As we were digging out of our recent central Ohio snowstorm the other day, I get up early Wednesday morning and turned on the Weather Channel. This woman who looked familiar came on and started giving the forecast. It looked like Elise Stevens. I thought to myself, "What is Elise Stevens doing on the Weather Channel?" I knew she graduated with her Masters degree from Bowling Green last summer, but how did she get to be on the Weather Channel? Did she get a job there? Well, then, the woman on the TV was identified as Jen Carfagno.

The two are pictured below. See for yourself.
