4th of July parade notes
The following comes from page 7 of the June 13, 2005 edition of The Eastside Messenger:
"The 46th annual Bexley Fourth of July parade will honor America's independence and the 100th birthday of Jeffrey Mansion with the theme 'Celebrating 100 Years of Our Community Home' July 4."
"Parade entrants are encouraged to create unique and patriotic entries that will celebrate this historic event."
"The mansion was built by the Jeffrey family in 1905 and was deeded to the city in 1941. It is used as offices of the recreation department and hosts public and private events."
"Bexley Celebrations Association will accept parade entries through June 24. Entry forms are available at Bexley City Hall, Bexley Parks and Recreation at Jeffrey Mansion, or by calling Cindy Phillips at 235-0894."
"Due to scheduled road construction on Main Street, the parade will detour north on Euclaire Avenue from Mound Street, turn west on Main and continue north on Cassady Avenue, continuing on to Fair Avenue and ending at Bexley High School."
This means that the parade will not go on Mound all the way over to Pleasant Ridge and then to Main before turning on to Dawson to Fair to BHS, as has been traditionally the case.
