Homecoming week at Bexley
Even though this is the last week of the regular high school football season, it's Homecoming Week, according to the school website. One of the days is devoted to "'70's/'80's day." I guess that means that the kids will dress up as kids did back in the '70's and '80's, uh, much like us.
We used to have '50's day, where we would slick back our hair or tie in pony tails while wearing denim slacks, tee shirts, poodle skirts, leather jackets, and bobby socks. We got our inspiration for this by watching "Happy Days." We went around in our leather or letter jackets, holding our thumbs up, and going "aaayyyyyy" everytime we clicked our fingers and got what we really wanted.
What do these kids today draw upon for their tribute to the times in which we grew up? Looking at old Bexleo's? Or watching "That '70's Show?" (Were we really like that back then?) What are they going to do, have cast members show up for the day? Ashton Kutcher can't make it. He and Demi are too busy studying kabbalah with Madonna.
And who are our beloved Lions closing out the season with at home with Friday night? None other than the very inhabitants of that school on Cherry Bottom, Columbus Academy! Hopefully, the home team and fans will be happy once the game ends as they head over to Rube's for a postgame celebration! That would be in keeping with the '70's. Just ask Trish, Beth, and Elise. They'll confirm that for you!
Go Lions! Twip the Tweeds!
