Ruthie Schnitz Redmond Arizona 3 Day Breast Cancer Fund Raiser Report
What follows is an e-mail report from Ruthie on her recent Arizona breast cancer fund raising efforts:
Dear David,
In case you haven't already heard, I survived and conquered the 60 mile 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. In fact, I cruised through without any blisters, and even slept soundly in the tent!
As I walked(and walked...and walked...and walked), I realized I was a part of something much bigger than I imagined. I heard stories of unbelievable courage and strength. I saw an 80 year old man walk all 60 miles. I met another man who committed himself to walk all twelve 3-Days this year(720 miles in twelve weeks). I ate with a couple from New Hampshire who chose to spend their vacation volunteering as crew members. And I watched a training partner refuse to give in to the stomach flu(imagine NO flushing toilets!) and drag her exhausted, dehydrated body to the finish line, just to name a few.
It was an honor and a privilege to join forces with so many positive, passionate and enthusiastic people who unite to make a difference. Your generousity and kindness, which enabled me to reach a fundraising goal of $25,000, was humbling. A special mention to my niece for convincing me to accept this challenge, and my family, friends and co-workers for their encouragement, and for keeping home and office running smoothly in my absence.
Again, thank you for embracing this cause with me.
Warm wishes for a joyful holiday season!
Ruthie
Mazel tov, Ruthie! Way to go! :-)
