Happy New Year from the Blog!
Best wishes to all of BHS80 World from BHS80blog!
2005 has been a memorable year for all of us. It was great to see so many of you during reunion weekend. It was the highlight of the year!
It's also been wonderful to be in touch with so many of you and meet up with you locally. Additionally, it's been enjoyable to visit with those of you who have come to central Ohio either for the holidays or at some other point during the year. It's great to hear from you who keep in touch by e-mail, as well. May all of these things continue into the coming year, and beyond!
So, let's continue to hear from you (dmeckler@att.net). Please don't hesitate to send your updates (and photos, if you like) for me to post. We'd like to know (and see) how you're doing! Thanks!
Our classmates continue to be actively involved in giving of their time and energy to enhance and enrich the lives of others who are truly in a time of need. These folks also enhance and enrich their lives as a result, as well. Keep up the great work!
And, during this past year, one of our classmates was finally recognized for her athletic prowess with her induction into the Bexley HS Hall of Fame! (A long overdue honor that is very well deserved!)
So, as we approach 2006, we can say that 2005 is a tough act to follow. However, if there is a group that can top all we accomplished, it's very definitely you folks! Good luck with that. I know you can (and will) do it!
Stay well, take care, and keep e-mailing!
Happy New Year!

Atchie to sell papers for Charity Newsies fundraiser Saturday
Hey, Central Ohio BHS'80 kids,
If you'll be out and about Saturday, remember to purchase a Dispatch from a Charity Newsie representative at various street corners around town. Our own Atchie Atcheson will be selling papers for this charity fundraiser at the corner of James and Livingston. Please be sure to help poor and needy kids and families have a Christmas they wouldn't have otherwise thanks to the generosity of you and others!

Beth Costello Erdy returns to BHS!
Brooke Erdy, Beth Costello Erdy, Brynn Erdy, and Meck before watching Bexley defeat Olentangy Liberty 46-43 at BHS on December 1, 2005. Beth and Todd Erdy's other daughter, Brittny led the way for the Patriots with five points and about five rebounds as Liberty put up a strong fight in the second have to cut a huge first half deficit down to size and come within three of the Lions when the game ended. Special thanks to Todd Erdy for taking the photo!
Between the end of the Junior Varsity game and the start of the Varsity game, Beth, Brynn, and Meck went outside to the old middle hallway in the school (the one with the various sports team photos down the hall from where Mr. Click's office used to be!). Brynn correctly picked out her mom from old team volleyball and track photos! Brynn, Brittny, and Todd Erdy were impressed when informed that Beth was a member of the 1978 State runner up volleyball team that has a banner hanging on the wall of the gym.
The Olentangy Liberty kids gave a strong effort in the second half. They have nothing to be ashamed of and can hold their heads high. Beth, Todd, and the other Patriot parents are very supportive of their athlete-students and do a wonderful job showing up for both home and road game. They serve as an inspiring example for others to follow.
Arnett spouse saves stroke victim with corkscrew!
A local radio commercial playing here in Central Ohio for Riverside Methodist Hospital deals with how Dr. Ronald Budzik, husband of our very own Dr. Amy Arnett Budzik, saved a stroke victim using a "corkscrew." I asked Amy about it and here is her response:
Hi David,
Yes, that was Ron. He uses a catheter which enters the body through the groin vessels. He snakes it up into the brain vasculature and then screws a corkscrew-like device into the clot that is blocking the vessel and retrieves it, restoring blood flow to the portion of the brain that was blocked and presenting with stroke symptoms. It is interesting and very localized with less contraindications than with traditional systemic treatment - anticoagulating the entire body. People just need to know where to go if they are having a stroke, since not all hospitals provide this type of care, and time is critical.
Hope all is well,
Amy
