Ruthie Schnitz Redmond fundraising efforts against breast cancer

Hi,

Got these e-mails from Ruthie Schnitz Redmond in the Valley of the Sun. Ruthie invites you to sponsor her in her efforts to raise funds in the battle against breast cancer. The event in Arizona is scheduled for November 3-5, 2006. Good luck and Mazel tov, Ruthie!

David,

I really enjoyed your most recent article "Future deal for Class of 2006." I was especially taken by the pay it forward section, since I have recently signed up to do the 3-Day walk in support of Breast Cancer. We all get so wrapped up in our very busy lives, and often forget that there are so many people out there who are less fortunate and could use our help. So this is my first "big" attempt to pay it forward, and it hopefully will be the first of many attempts to help others in a big way. I would appreciate it if you would forward my letter to anyone who might be willing to help. Thanks for your regular updates. I do read them, and enjoy catching up with the people back home.

My 3-Day letter will follow shortly after this.

Regards and thanks again,

Ruthie

Dear David,

Greetings and warm wishes to you. In case you haven't heard, I was recently invited by my niece, Katie Redmond, to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. This is a 60-mile walk over a three day period to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I accepted this challenge and have already begun my physical training, and am now asking you to assist with my fundraising efforts.

All walkers must raise a minimum of $2200 before they are allowed to participate in the 3-Day. I am setting my sights high and hope to collect at least twice that amount. Please keep in mind when deciding how much to donate, that not only will I be walking 60 miles (rain or shine), but I will also be sleeping in a tent for two nights! Most importantly, though, it is through your generous gifts that the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation can continue its quest for a cure.

Deciding to accept this challenge was not difficult for me. My father is not only a proud, courageous and inspiring survivor of pancreatic cancer, but also a daily reminder of how cancer changes lives. He and my mother have taken this unplanned journey together, with strength and grace, humor and love, and unknowingly have inspired me to take my own journey. Please join me in the fight against breast cancer by donating on-line (link to my HQ page), or by contributing a check made payable to Breast Cancer 3-Day (download donation form). Thank you in advance for your moral and monetary support.

Warmest regards,

Ruthie
