Cathy Klunk Armstrong and Kathy Metz Armstrong
What’s in a married name, albeit different spellings? Well, in our class we have Cathy Klunk Armstrong and Kathy Metz Armstrong. I’ve e-mailed them both about this and I just heard back from Klunk. Cathy is just back from a trip to France where she followed the Tour de France firsthand. I’ve not heard from Metz. When I do, this will be updated to reflect what Kathy e-mailed me.
Klunk says her husband and Metz’s husband are not related. Cathy knows Kathy from Bexley, but they haven’t kept in touch.
Professionally, Klunk has made a career working in the pharmaceutical industry. "I have spent the last 15 years working on my career. I finished my Masters in Exercise Physiology and my undergrad was in Medical technology with a minor in Chemistry," Klunk says, "I went on to specialize in Molecular Diagnostics and I now work with a large pharma corp Roche Dignostics. I specialize in sales of DNA & RNA testing and equipment for PCR."
Klunk’s husband, Chris Armstrong, serves as Fitness Director for the Sacramento Metro Fire Department and Academy. "We have both spent the past 15 years on our careers and are now looking at retirement in the next 2.5 years," says Klunk, "We will continue to travel and most likely settle in the foothills near Yosemite where we are currently looking for a 2nd home to retire to."
Klunk says she and Metz were in some of the same classes with some of the same teachers when they met in junior high school. The two also hung out and ran around together during that time, says Klunk, who considers the name similarity "very much" a fluke. No one mixes the two of them up because they live in different states, according to Klunk.
Klunk would welcome a reunion with Metz. "Would be interested in catching up to say hello, if Kathy is in Cali ever. I’m usually home for the holidays but it is difficult with both our families and trying to share time. Chris is one of 8 children and we are usually crazy in the holidays," says Klunk, "I’ll be home a few times in the fall to see the folks and if there is any contact info available while I’m in town please let me know."
Again, when Kathy Metz Armstrong responds, this will be updated to reflect Kathy's responses.
